I am a qualified primary school teacher of 21 years, and for the last 10 years have been Maths subject lead. My philosophy is the small steps, big impact approach where each small step is carefully curated in order to move on to the next. I have successfully designed and taught this approach so that the cognitive overload is lessened and there is ample opportunity for retrieval practice, meaning loss of learning is mitigated and each small step is cumulatively built upon so that children are able to become well rounded and efficient mathematicians.
