I have taught pupils up to 11+ and helped many people pass exams they thought they could not. Getting to know a pupil is vital. What motivates him or her? What is difficult for this pupil? What is the child's learning style? I adapt my approach accordingly. I give ample praise as well as practical guidance in exam skills. I am super nice and never lose patience. We go at the pupil's pace. There is no such thing as a silly question. Ask for repetition or explanation as much as you want.
